Kisumu
This is the capital of western Kenya province commonly known as Nyanza. It
is the fourth largest city in the country with up to probably 8 Million
people in the whole province. Unemployment in the city itself could be at 40
percent however in other parts of the province the number could be
alarmingly higher may be as high as 95%. Since people here have nothing much
to do it is understandable why this may be the most religious province in the
country though the least evangelized. Most people here are still very
traditional and maintain old traditional cultures and beliefs. It is filled
with a barrage of cultic religious movements whose teachings and influences
can not be underrated. Some of them even believe that Jerusalem of old is
physically located in some part of the province. Some of them believe they
are the messiah and have the powers of the messiah and by so doing, they have large
following.
In some parts witchcraft is still predominant and is a way of life. we
must pray for this region and reach it with the true gospel, the gospel of
Jesus Christ.
